The Sovereign Sounds project is passionate about amplifying Indigenous voices. We teach audio production and provide recording equipment to Indigenous communities, enabling people to record their own songs, their own stories, and to archive and learn their own languages. This contributes to keeping native oral traditions strong and empowers a new generation of Indigenous producers to flourish.
We are currently doing workshops in tribal schools and collaborating with individuals and small groups that have a desire to steward songs/stories projects in their own communities. We encourage anybody who is interested to get in touch with us on our Facebook page or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org!
Songs and stories have a way of breaking down walls. In our country, where division is the order of the day, we believe they could prove essential in our path towards healing. They are keys to understanding the power of the land we stand on.
